Larry Kilham's poetry explores the purpose and wonders of living, and it explores our relationships with nature.

THE TREE
The tall spreading tree
with rustling leaves spoke to me
in my slumber and dreaming
on a languid summer evening
under its shady boughs.
Later under this same tree
we lovers nestled free
where the wind whispered from on high
reminding me of my love’s gentle sigh
under its shady boughs.
Now I’m homebound in elder care
with my wife as my lady fair
yet outside is the same old tree
where I wish I could be
under its shady boughs.
The tall spreading tree
with rustling leaves spoke to me
in my slumber and dreaming
on a languid summer evening
under its shady boughs.
Later under this same tree
we lovers nestled free
where the wind whispered from on high
reminding me of my love’s gentle sigh
under its shady boughs.
Now I’m homebound in elder care
with my wife as my lady fair
yet outside is the same old tree
where I wish I could be
under its shady boughs.
