There was a time when time began -
A great explosion outward flung
gas and bodies to the infinitude.
Then came Him and them and platitude.
Progress crept in, seeking niches
But 'twas humans seeking riches.
Evolution's heart now is skipping -
perhaps we'll have robots guiding.
The masses the clarion call don't heed,
His creations fall to the greater need.
And the printouts outward flinging
are joining junk forever orbiting.
Reverence is rare, avarice is sweet;
how to balance is a mighty feat -
before reality becomes virtual
and the cosmos a void.
